Butler County Overdose Data Tool

This system collects baseline data about opioid overdoses, and can be used to alert key partners when overdoses exceed the numbers usually seen in our communities during a specific time period.

Three indicators are looked at simultaneously to get an idea of near real time happenings. Statistical analysis is done to determine when numbers exceed a predetermined baseline. The three indicators are:

1. Coroner’s data for number of deaths suspected to be due to overdoses from opioids
2. Emergency Room data for number of admissions due to opioid overdoses
3. Emergency Medical System (EMS) dispatch data for number of runs to respond to suspected overdoses from opioids
