Coroner Bio

Dr. Lisa Mannix is a Butler County native.  Dr. Mannix grew up in West Chester and graduated from Lakota High School.  She earned her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed residency and fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.  For more than 10 years, Dr. Mannix had a private medical practice in West Chester, specializing in Neurology and the treatment of patients with chronic headaches. She was principal investigator on many clinical trials and authored numerous scientific publications. 

In April 2012, Dr. Mannix became the Butler County Coroner. Since then, the office has investigated over 3,000 deaths including more than 1,200 overdose deaths. As the elected official of the office, Dr. Mannix has modernized the office’s technology, transportation and policies in order to improve efficiency and safety for the staff, and to provide effective and accurate results to the families of those served by the office.

Under Dr. Mannix’s leadership, the investigator staff have all achieved delegate certification by the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigation (D-ABMDI). Dr. Mannix has fostered relationships with law enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, hospitals, and community partners toward the goal of reducing preventable deaths and improving death investigation in the county.

She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Ohio State Coroner’s Association. Other organizations in which Dr. Mannix is involved include:
